Synopse
»The past is never dead. It’s not even past«. This coolly laconic war film undermines genre clichés and points up disturbing connections to the present. 1862: in the midst of the chaos of the US Civil War, a company of Union soldiers is patrolling in desolate border country near the Western territories. They are men and boys with matted hair and nagging hunger, but still firmly of the belief that they are serving both God and country in this dismal outpost in the middle of nowhere. But as winter draws in and the provisions run low, the soldiers begin to question their beliefs.
