Synopse
Sweet fruit, bitter exploitation, sharp contrast: against the backdrop of the shimmering skies of Andalusia, the strawberry harvest becomes a fight for justice for Moroccan fruit pickers. Hasna comes to Southern Spain from Morocco to pick strawberries. The days are hard, the wages bad and the foremen’s looks unpleasant. In Meriem she finds a friend with whom she can share her hopes and fears. But when a colleague defends herself against a foreman’s advances, the women’s fragile balance is jeopardized and Hasna has to decide whether to stay silent or risk everything she left Morocco for.
Regie
Laïla Marrakchi had her debut feature Marock (2005) shown in Cannes. After Rock the Casbah (2013) and some series productions she returned to Cannes with her third feature Strawberries.
