Synopse
Freedom or resistance? A gripping drama about an Iranian women’s rights activist based on a screenplay by Mohammad Rasoulof. Maryam has been imprisoned for six long years. When she is permitted to take a seven-day medical break, she can finally see her family again. Without her knowledge, her brother and husband have forged a plan to smuggle her out of the country. For Maryam, a dangerous journey begins through snow-covered mountains, ending in Turkey. Here, she faces the decision: does she really want to stay safe in exile – or should she return to her prison cell to continue the fight for equality and democracy?

ALI SAMADI AHADI (*1972 in Iran) fled to Germany in 1985 without his parents. Since 2000, he has worked as a director, screenplay author and editor. His documentary Lost Children (2009) won the German Film Prize.
