Synopse
With Paris as a backdrop, everybody in this lighthearted merry-go-round is either looking for love or an apartment or both. The most original feature of this "musical" is that characters break into songs as sung by the original artists, i.e. depending on the circumstances, a female character may all of a sudden start singing in a male voice and vice versa. The variety of songs and styles make for some very funny surprises, considering the voluntary absence of transitions between the talking and singing. No wonder the film is dedicated to Dennis Potter.
Regie
Alain Resnais, (*1922) studied acting and directing, but also worked as a cameraman and editor, before he became the probably most important director to emerge from the ranks of the Nouvelle Vague.
