Synopse
Beneath Roșia Montană, a Rumanian village in the Carpathians, lie the greatest reserves of gold in Europe. A mining company with powerful Canadian stakeholders want to extract 300 million tons and a gold rush to the poor region begins. Many inhabitants have sold their land and have moved away, others hope to find jobs in the mine. An ancient community and landscape are going to disappear, while the use of highly toxic cyanide will have unforeseeable consequences. The film shows how money is tearing a village community and whole families apart – and how a small group is resisting the sell-out.
