Synopse
Social study, comedy, sex film: Red Rocket is all those things – but above all a film by Sean Baker, who makes films about the USA like no-one else. In his mid-40s, ex-porn star Mikey leaves Los Angeles and goes back to his home town of Texas City. His still-wife Lexi is anything but enthusiastic at his return and unwillingly lets him lodge with her. To make a contribution to the rent, Mikey begins selling grass, but business is slow and he lapses back into his old ways. When he meets 18-year old Strawberry, he suddenly has a plan: to turn the donut shop owner into a porn star.

SEAN BAKER (*1971) became known through his films Starlet (2012) and above all Tangerine (2015) which he shot on an iPhone. In 2017, FILMFEST HAMBURG showed his film The Florida Project.
