Synopse

Andrea Arnold’s debut feature is a quiet, almost meditative thriller in the tradition of British social drama – with nods to Michael Haneke. Jackie works for City Eye Control, the state video monitoring system in Glasgow. Her daily work consists of watching other people – until she recognizes a man on the screen. Her past has caught up with her and she starts stalking him. Red Road was the first film under the label »Advance Party«, set created by a trio of Scottish-Danish producers, Gillian Berrie, Lone Scherfig and Anders Thomas Jensen, who created a set of rules, analogue to the Dogma 95 manifesto: all films had to be debuts and use the same ensemble of characters.

Regie

ANDREA ARNOLD (*1961 in Dartford, England) studied film direction in Los Angeles and won an Oscar for her short Wasp (2003). Her debut Red Road (2006), Fish Tank (2009) and American Honey (2016) all won the Jury Prize at Cannes. The latter was also shown at FILMFEST HAMBURG.
