Synopse
Haji dreams of his own death. Not a good omen for an actor in his late 30s, but understandable in his situation: his health isn’t good, his divorce is getting him down and his career seems to have hit a dead end. So the invitation to a friend’s wedding outside Tokyo comes as a welcome distraction. On the journey, Haji falls asleep and when he awakes, he’s arrived – not at the wedding, but in his own schooldays. And he’s not alone, his old gang is there too – as adults. Playback is a playful drama in laconic black and white pictures which artfully blurs the borders between present and past, reality and memory.
