Synopse
A subjective anatomy of contemporary, post-Marxist China. Dark, poetic and existentialist images show people from various social classes struggling for survival in modern Chinese society. A farmer loses his land, a weapons-factory labourer wishes Mao were still alive to save the country and young artists dream of fame and success in the West. Director Xiaolu Guo’s previous feature film "She, a Chinese" (2008) is also being shown at FILMFEST HAMBURG, as part of the Nordlichter programme.
Regie
Xiaolu Guo (*1973) won The Golden Leopard in Locarno with her first feature She, a Chinese (2009). Ufo in Her Eyes ist an adaption of her own novel of the same title.
