Synopse

A young Turkish teacher is sent to the east of the country to teach young Kurdish kids the Turkish language. He himself has little knowledge of the Kurdish language and in the course of the ensuing academic year a number of clashes arise between pupils and teacher, both of a linguistic and of a cultural nature. The west of Turkey is very European while the east is often felt to be quite backward in comparison.
