Synopse

A more oppressive family life is hard to imagine: the husband is unfaithful, making the wife a seething mass of rage and the son is as uninterested in his parents' destructive relationship as they are in his life. One last provocative act by the husband is enough to tip his wife over the edge. The son has to pay for the sins of the father. Kim Ki-duk's hitherto most radical work is a dark lesson in the eternal human epiphenomena of desire, guilt, violence - subjects characteristic of his films. Kim has made a symbol-laden film without dialogue, reminiscent of ancient Greek tragedy, with little room for hope.
