Synopse
A hotel on the banks of the Mekong River that separates Thailand from Laos. Its bedrooms and terraces are the setting for little stories, told as slowly and gently as the river flows. The starting point is a film project by Apichatpong Weerasethakul himself about the "Pob spirits", man-eating beings from the local mythology. Intending to make this film, the director returns to the places of his youth with a small group of actors. Mekong Hotel is, however, neither a "making of" film, nor a formal story in the classical sense. It is an artistically constructed miniature about remembering and reality, life and death – and how these worlds slowly intermingle.
