Synopse

In his adaption of this classical tragedy, Alexander Zeldovich creates a timeless contemporary variation – between Russia and Israel, religion, mythology, art and sex. Medea has for years been the lover of the powerful oligarch Alexei and lives in a remote house that he bought for her and their two children. When Alexei tells her that he is planning to separate from his wife and emigrate with her and the children to Israel, the young woman’s dream seems to be coming true. But on the day of their departure, circumstances arise that put the family’s hoped-for happiness in jeopardy and cause Medea to take drastic measures.

ALEXANDER ZELDOVICH (*1958) studied psychology and worked as a psychologist in Moscow hospitals whilst also making films. He won international acclaim with his films Moscow (2000) and Target (2011).
