Synopse

Vienna, 1777. Despite having lost her sight at an early age, 18-year old Maria Theresia »Resi« Paradis (Maria Dragus) is celebrated in Viennese society as a musical wunderkind. After numerous unsuccessful treatments, she comes into the care of Doctor Franz Anton Mesmer (Devid Striesow) a controversial figure due to his new methods. At the Mesmer house, between Rococo and Enlightenment, among a collection of odd patients and with the help of the maid Agnes, Resi feels free at last. When she begins to see things for the first time, she discovers to her horror that she seems to be simultaneously losing her musical virtuosity. Licht is a dense historical drama based on Alissa Walser's novel Am Anfang war die Nacht Musik.
