Synopse
Urged on by his ambitious wife (Marion Cotillard) and the prophecy that he will become king of Scotland, Macbeth (Michael Fassbender) kills King Duncan and seizes the throne. The greedy, power-hungry couple then eliminate everyone who might endanger their ambitions. But their bloody reign of terror is soon under threat. The regicide and his power-mad wife: there is scarcely a work of literature that has exercised so much fascination over the centuries than the rise and fall of Macbeth. In this darkly opulent new film version, Oscar®-nominated Michael Fassbender and Oscar®-winner Marion Cotillard offer a new interpretation of the world's best-known tyrant couple.

For his film Snowtown (2011), Justin Kurzel (*1974) won an AACTA Award, the most significant film and TV award in Australia. Macbeth ran in competition at this year's Cannes Festival.
