Synopse
Europe in the not too distant future: capitalism has perfected itself and developed an enthusiastic class of achievers to keep it going. They live placid middle-class lives, are happy and fulfilled. Most of them. For everyone else, there's the Life Guidance agency, whose task it is to get problem cases back on track. Alexander, a performer in the financial sector, is just such a candidate. He starts to resist and is promptly confronted with the smiling terror of the system. Ruth Mader has created a distopia which despite the bizarre humour is uncomfortably familiar in the face of today's debates about transparency and self-optimisation.
Regie
RUTH MADER (*1974) has been making shorts and documentaries since the early 1990s and has been successful at numerous festivals. Life Guidance was shown in competition at his year's Venice International Film Festival.
