Synopse
During World War II, two nine-year old twin brothers live with their very cruel grandmother. She lives in a remote Hungarian village and makes the two children work very hard for scraps of food and makeshift accommodation. The twins soon learn how to survive in this terrible grown-up world. They become hard, banish their feelings, learn how to freeze, survive on little food, beg, steal and kill - skills they believe they need in their situation. The film is based on the best-seller of the same name by Ágota Kristóf and won the main prize at the Karlovy Vary festival.
