Synopse
May 1945. The Second World War is over. The beaches of Denmark are studded with more than two million land mines buried by German troops. These are now to be cleared by German POWs, mostly ex-members of the German Volkssturm, very young and very old men pressed into service by the Nazis in the final months of the war and neither trained nor equipped to clear mines. Sebastian (Louis Hofmann), Wilhelm (Leon Seidel), Helmut (Joel Basman) and Albert (Levin Henning) are part of a group of 12 boys trying to survive this dangerous undertaking. They crawl along the beach, poking sticks into the sand and digging the mines out with their hands. Every move could be their last. Unter dem Sand is a tense thriller about a little-known chapter of German-Danish post-war history.
