Synopse

A sensitive coming-of-age film about an exchange student in the USA examines leave-taking, desire and the painful magic of attaining adulthood. In 2001, Franny, a 16-year old exchange student from Germany, arrives in the sleepy desert town of Las Cruces in New Mexico. Far from home, she deals with tedious days at school, oppressive heat and sleepless nights. Then she meets Elliott, whose quiet melancholy mirrors her own. While America is still affected by the terrorist attacks of 9/11, something happens inside Franny and an unexpected tenderness begins to grow.

Regie

Katharina Rivilis studied acting and direction. For I'll Be Gone In June she won the Way Film Translation Award at European Work in Progress (EWIP). One year later, her debut feature was shown in the Un Certain Regard section at Cannes.
