Synopse
In her fact-based new film, Spanish director Icíar Bollaín examines abuse and power structures. 24-year old Nevenka Fernández rises quickly in the local political circles of the Northern Spanish community of Ponferrada. But she soon sees that the initial support from the mayor Ísmael Alvarez in fact hides other motives. Having at first given way to his constant inappropriate behaviour, when she tries to break free of his grip she finds herself hostage to the suppression of the entire governmental apparatus. Now on her own, she decides to take on the unequal fight.
