Synopse
There is something rotten in the state of Kashmir: the young poet Haider returns home after learning that his father has disappeared. It‘s 1995 and Kashmir is sliding into civil war. Haider finds out that his father was kidnapped and killed by Indian troops and that his mother and uncle are having a relationship. In his adaptation of Hamlet, Vishal Bhardwaj transfers the action to the Himalayas. The Indian version of the tragedy about the prince who wrestles with his fate is no less dramatic than the Shakespearean original.
