Synopse
An in-depth study of human nature, a possible evolution of our animalistic urges. Hugaw is a god-forsaken island in the Philippine archipelago where good things only rarely happen: the Japanese occupiers created a camp for forced prostitutes in World War II and now miners scrabble around in the mud for a pittance. Three of the men then set out to find a better life. But on their journey they discover that the history of mankind is a genealogy of violence. The title refers to the zoological name for one of our closest cousins in the animal world, the chimpanzee.
