Synopse
Four women, four stories: a prostitute tries to lead a normal life with her lover; a farmwoman is married off by her family but cast out by her husband; a housewife reminisces about her youth with a old schoolmate; an old spinster looks after her mother – and must take life into her own hands when her mother dies. All four stories are set in the male-dominated society of rural India between 1940 and 1960. The Indian press praised "Four Women" as being a "tribute to women and their strength."
