Synopse
In the world of classical dance, perfection is imperative for both adults and children. The critically acclaimed film spends 12 months with six young dancers from various parts of the world on their way to the Youth America Grand Prix in New York, one of the most important ballet competitions in the world. It’s an obstacle course full of privation and pain, but also hope and recognition. For some participants, dance is the only way out of poverty. Full of emotional impressions, First Position makes clear with what enthusiasm and ambition the young dancers take on all the stresses and strains, as the unavoidable moment of truth approaches: acceptance or rejection.
