Synopse
The true story of a young chess genius fighting for the right to stay in France, told with passion and humour. 8-year old Fahim (Assad Ahmed) has to leave Bangladesh in a hurry with his father and flees to Paris. Once there, their troubles are far from over. Where can they find somewhere to live - and a job for the father? Thanks to his extraordinary talent for chess, Fahim finds a sponsor and friend in chess trainer Sylvain (Gérard Depardieu). But shortly before the championships his father is threatened with deportation. Fahim has no choice: he has to become French champion.

PIERRE FRANÇOIS MARTIN-LAVAL (*1968 in Marseilles) is also well-known in France as an actor. His debut as a director was Try Me in 2006. Fahim is his sixth feature film.
