Synopse

Documentary: Observations in the canteen kitchen at the Neptun Shipyard in Rostock, without interviews or commentary. The workers skillfully handle the heavy cauldrons: laughter, heat, steam and snatches of dialogue. Die Küche and Rangierer run as double feature.

Regie

Jürgen Böttcher (*1931) was one of the great artists of the GDR, both as documentary film-maker and as a painter working under the pseudonym Strawalde. In 2006, he was awarded the Berlinale Camera.
