Synopse
DOCUMENTARY With a sober view of reality, Andrea Arnold’s portrait of a cow observes the animal’s beauty and recognizes its life’s work. The calf is pulled from the mother’s body with chains and ropes – for Luma, an experienced mother, this is routine. She licks her newly-born calf and returns to everyday life. The life of a dairy cow – characteristics and individuality slowly emerge from the monotony. »It was important for me to allow the cows their personalities. We treat them as equals and follow their rhythm. The cows tell their own story.«
