Synopse

Yehia and his family have a catering company specializing in weddings. Re'efat, the eldest son, is head over heels in love with Shadia, the divorced village beauty, but he's engaged to his cousin Karima, who is in turn in love with Re'efat's younger brother. As if this emotional chaos weren't strenuous enough for everyone involved, who have to suffer in silence, at a businessman's wedding the inevitable romantic showdown occurs. The catalyst is Shadia's corrupt ex-lover, who sets off an absurd chain of jealous reactions. “My Big Fat Egyptian Wedding”: the film is a fizzing comedy with elements of Bollywood that satirizes the close juxtaposition of Arab patriarchy and Western permissiveness in Egyptian society.
