Synopse

Paris in the early 1990s. For the last 10 years, AIDS has been raging in France, but the government isn't bothered about sex education and the pharmaceuticals lobby is delaying the development of new treatments. The activist group ACT UP is known for their spectacular campaigns with which they call attention to the state of affairs. Nathan, himself HIV-negative, joins the group and falls in love with Sean, the most courageous and radical of all the activists. Together, they fight on the front line – even after the illness has long taken hold in Sean. This gripping drama is a monument to the European AIDS movement and won the Grand Jury Prize at Cannes, along with the FIPRESCI prize and the Queer Palm.

Regie

ROBIN CAMPILLO (*1962) was born in Morocco and was himself active in ACT UP in the 1990s.
