Synopsis
DOCUMENTARY No living artist is so inextricably intertwined with East/West German history as Wolf Biermann. A moving, very personal, kaleidoscopic view of a life spent in five different versions of Germany. Wolf Biermann has always had a polarising effect. The lyrical power of his songs has ruffled feathers for more than 60 years. The film uses his music as the jumping-off point to approach Biermann himself. The camera accompanies the 90-year old at numerous meetings with young musicians and politicians, along with his family and presents the resulting footage in a collage of contemporary documentation which includes as yet unpublished archive material.
