Synopse

DOCUMENTARY With the passing of legend John Neumeier begins a new era for Hamburg Ballet. In August 2024, Demis Volpi took over the leadership of one of the best-known ballet companies in Europe, intending to continue Neumaier’s legacy and at the same time set his own artistic mark. In rehearsals and at premieres, in conversations and behind the scenes, Kim Hess accompanies the German-Argentinian choreographer during his first season. What starts out as an intimate portrait of an optimistic new beginning gradually becomes a chronicle of a change of leadership in the full glare of the public eye.

Regie

Kim Hess is a director and producer. In 2023, she graduated in direction at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg. BETWEEN TIMES – The Hamburg Ballet in Transition is her debut full-length film.
