Synopse
A drawing course for students, a taxidermist's workshop, a safari park in Québec: Bestiaire is no classical nature documentary or zoo portrait. It is a visually outstanding study of domesticated wildlife and our relationship with it.Director Denis Côté makes his observations of the animals and their environment mostly from a fixed camera position. His commentary contains no value judgments, preferring to reflect the viewers' perception back at them, including the reflex to imagine narration where there is none. A film about the foreignness of the wild and our strategies against it.
