Synopse

Fai works as a chauffeur for a rich Hong Kong Chinese woman. While she tries to fill her empty days with girlfriends or tango lessons, he spends his time in silence behind the wheel. In the evening, he leaves Hong Kong and returns to his family, who live in the People's Republic. His pregnant wife cannot leave their flat, yet has to go to Hong Kong to give birth. The problem is, she doesn't have a visa. Fai ties to use all legal and illegal means to get his wife permission to enter Hong Kong. In poetic pictures, the film tells its story of the bizarre and complex relationship between Hong Kong and the People's Republic. A film about physical and metaphorical borders and how to overcome them.

Regie

Flora Lau (*1976) studied at the London Film School. She also wrote the screenplay for Bends, her debut feature film, and was able to call on prominent support in the form of Hong Kong legend Christopher Doyle as Director of Photography.
