Synopse
In an air raid during the Iran-Iraq war, 10-year old Bashu loses his family and his home. He manages to escape on the back of a truck and travels from the South to the far North, ending up in a village where he is lovingly cared for by a mother with two small children. But the other villagers aren't enthusiastic about the newcomer who, being of a darker colour, looks different and doesn't speak their language. The woman's husband also wants to be rid of Bashu as quickly as possible. This moving drama was at first subsidized by the Iranian government, then banned because of its critical stance towards the war and intolerance.
