Synopse

Everything’s so lovely and pink here: the world’s most famous doll is coming into her own – feminist, tongue-in-cheek and absolutely hilarious. Life in Barbie Land is like paradise: the sun is always shining, everyone’s in a good mood and there’s pure harmony everywhere. All the Barbies who live there are successful as doctors, presidents and astronauts, and are adored unconditionally by their Kens. But one day, "Stereotype" Barbie (Margot Robbie) suddenly begins to have doubts about this plastic reality. Without further ado, she sets off with her boyfriend Ken (Ryan Gosling) into the real world – only to realise that things are more complicated than they’d thought.

Greta Gerwig rose to prominence in the American "mumblecore" movement in the late 2000s. In 2017, she made her directorial debut with Lady Bird, which was nominated for five Oscars. With Barbie, she became the first female director to have a film gross over one billion US dollars at the box office.
