Synopse
A young man slips into an ambivalent world of love, friendship, sex work and drugs. A queer coming-of-age story from São Paulo, authentic and disturbing. After two years in a juvenile prison, Wellington finds himself alone on the streets of São Paulo – with no contact to his parents, no money and no plan. In a porn cinema, he meets 42-year old Ronaldo, who becomes his experienced lover. Ronaldo introduces him to the sex milieu, where Wellington starts working under the name Baby. He is sucked ever deeper into the vortex of his mentor; the result is a two-edged sword of stability and great danger.
Regie
MARCELO CAETANO (*1982 in Brazil) studied social sciences in São Paulo and had his directorial debut in 2017 with Corpo Elétrico. He worked on various films, including Bacurau (2019) and Aquarius (2016). Baby was shown at Cannes this year in the Semaine de la critique section. Lead actor Ricardo Teodoro was awarded the Louis Roederer Foundation Rising Star Award.
