Synopse

A dystopian vision of the massive consequences of the war between Ukraine and Russia in the Donbass. East Ukraine in the near future: the country has become an inhospitable desert, where settlement is no longer possible. The former soldier Sergei, who suffers from PTSD, is finding it very hard to assimilate in the new reality of his home country in ruins. One day he decides to join a group of volunteers digging the bodies of fallen soldiers out of the rubble. Here, he gets to know Katya and a better future suddenly seems possible.

Regie

VALENTYN VASYANOVYCH (*1971) studied camera and documentary film-making at the Film University in Kiev and direction at the Andrzej Wajda School in Warsaw. Besides his films, he also came to prominence through his drama about deaf people The Tribe.
