Synopse
Told in fragments, this debut is an examination of decisions, transience and the effects of time. Maem is the daughter of a watch-maker and amateur philosopher in Thailand in the 1960s. The country is divided by the conflict between military junta and Communist rebels, whilst the young woman is torn between a shy Rickshaw driver and a heartless army officer. 50 years later, the officer is dying. At his deathbed, Maem reflects on the events of her life and the paths she took. A mosaic of memories of joy and pain, tenderness and violence, which also reflect the eventful history of her country.
