Synopse
This courtroom drama starring Sandra Hüller won the Golden Palm at Cannes this year. A gripping film about the search for truth as a kaleidoscope of possibilities. Sandra (Sandra Hüller), a German writer, her French husband Samuel and their son live in a village in the French alps. One beautiful day, Samuel is found dead in the snow outside their chalet. Was is murder? Suicide? A tragic accident? The police find his sudden death suspicious and Sandra is their main suspect. An exhausting trial based on circumstantial evidence begins which sheds more and more light not only on the circumstances of Samuel’s death, but also on Sandra’s and Samuel’s lively relationship. Director Justin Triet was only the third woman in the history of the festival to win the Golden Palm for her film, while Sandra Hüller’s unusual and subtle performance won great praise from the German and international press.

JUSTINE TRIET (*1978 in France) studied at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris and her debut film of 2013 was the comedy La Bataille de Solférino. In 2019, Sibyl – Therapie zwecklos was her first collaboration with Sandra Hüller.
