Synopsis

Genre-hopping Fabrice du Welz undertakes a fantastic trip into the abyss of the soul. 12-year old Paul lives with his mum in a remote forest in the private psychiatric clinic where she works. He spends his days roaming the woods and observing nature. But his life changes radically when 15-year old Gloria, a new schizophrenia patient, arrives in the clinic. Paul is fascinated by her – and a strong bond between the two develops. Together they break out of the clinic and disappear into the forest on a journey to the heart of madness.

FABRICE DU WELZ (*1972) is a Belgian director and screenplay writer whose work lies somewhere between genre film and arthouse. After his slasher film Calvaire and the genre work Alleluia (FILMFEST HAMBURG 2014) Adoration is the last part of his Ardennes trilogy.
