Synopse
In 1986, Atom Egoyan read an article about a Jordanian who hid a bomb in his pregnant girlfriend’s handbag. In his latest film he tells the tale of orphan Simon (Devon Bostick), who translates said article at school. Simon identifies with the unborn child, imagining his dead father were the assassin. Egoyan construes an intense family history of provocative complexity, using real and imagined flashbacks to treat a number of post-9/11 issues, such as the deceptiveness of outward appearances.

ATOM EGOYAN (*1960) is one of Canada’s best-known directors. His drama The Sweet Hereafter won many awards, including the Jury Prize at Cannes in 1997.
