Synopse

After 8 years in jail, Siva is released onto the streets of Singapore, his home city, which nonetheless shows him little pity. Looking for his ex-wife and daughter, he comes up against walls of silence and closed doors at least as impenetrable as the walls of his former prison. Caught between arbitrary bureaucracy and everyday racism, Siva, who is of Indian origin, tries stoically to find a foothold and renew contact with his former life. As a day labourer in a funeral chapel he meets Chen Chen, who is Chinese, and protects her on their shared path through the shady underside of the glittering metropolis.
