Story
An unsuccessful film director goes in search of a lost film in order to rewrite the history of cinema. Empty cinemas greet her latest film, at home is a husband who doesn’t understand and a son who prefers to consume the Hollywood mainstream – Ji-wan is in the middle of a crisis. Just before she turns her back on cinema completely, she is offered the chance to restore a work by the Korean film pioneer Hong Eun-won. Like a detective, she dives into the depths of an historical narrative forgotten by film-makers for decades and in doing so tries to find a place for herself.
Director
SHIN SU-WON (*1967 in Seoul) studied German at the University of Seoul and worked as a teacher before she decided in her mid-30s to become a film-maker. Hommage is her fifth film and was shown in competition at the Tokyo Film Festival.Trailer
