Story
Working class hero: In a big-hearted film with a great cast, Kenneth Branagh tells of his childhood in strife-torn Northern Ireland of the late 1960s. 9-year old Buddy is growing up in a working-class family Belfast. Everyday life is marked by strikes and street fighting, deep cultural changes and the violent struggle between Catholics and Protestants in the neighbourhood. Wild times, and the film-mad boy dreams of a glittering future that will take him far away from the Troubles. Buddy finds consolation in his family, particularly his talkative Granny (Judi Dench).
