Since 2022, the #Atelier, in cooperation with La Semaine de la Critique of the Festival de Cannes, has offered a creative space designed to sharpen and broaden the perspective of emerging filmmakers on the international film landscape. Since 2025, the emerging talent initiative FIRST STEPS has joined as an additional partner.
16 filmmakers nominated for the FIRST STEPS Award are invited to Hamburg. They will meet Thomas Rosso (La Semaine de la Critique), producer Inès Daïen Dasi and actress Suzanne Gerin (La Gradiva) as well as director Sara Ishaq and producers Fred Burle and Sol Bondy (The Station). Both films will be screened at FilmFest Hamburg following their world premieres in Cannes. In addition, the three-day event offers a conversation with Sales Manager Valeska Neu, creates many opportunities to connect with one another and provides direct access to the international film world.
