50% for Programming
In recent years, public broadcasters have mostly met their savings targets by cutting programming. Are there alternative approaches? The associations of creative filmmakers support the screenwriters’ call to allocate at least 50 percent of broadcasting funds to programming: “Every euro increases public acceptance of public broadcasting,” reads the open letter sent at the end of 2024 to the broadcasting commissions of the federal states, the heads of state and senate chanceries, media policy representatives, and the KEF board and management. What progress has been made on the “50+ Reform” since then?
