Synopse
In 1964 a young film director (Ole Lemmeke)sets out to make a documentary about the almost forgotten silent film goddess Asta Nielsen (played by 87-year-old Vera Gebuhr). The film star welcomes him with open arms, but the further he penetrates behind the outer veneer of her life, the less willing she becomes to talk. In particular about her relationship to her only daughter Jesta. Finally, she refuses to work on the film any further. Based on a true story, Torben Skjødt Jensen’s film is more than just a critical biography. When Jesta kills herself (in the film as in real life), the film-maker sees the destructive power of life’s secrets. Perhaps he should never have persuaded the "silent muse" to speak.
