Synopse

Three veterans of the "Friends of the Rail Association" in Uruguay are livid: a Hollywood studio has bought up the historical steam engine, "Heart of Fire". Proclaiming "Our national heritage is not for sale!", the professor with a heart condition (Héctor Alterio), chatterbox Pepe (Frederico Luppi) and scatterbrained Dante (Pepe Soriano) comandeer the train, pursued by the police and the buyers from the USA. The longer they stay on the run, the more they become popular heroes. "El último tren" has won audience awards at several festivals and in Spain received the Goya for the best Spanishlanguage foreign film.
