Synopse

In bright colours and expressive sets, a grim vision of the future of a united, yet divided Korea unfolds. In a dystopian post-war world, North and South Korea are reunited. But the country is surrounded by an enormous wall which, it is alleged, protects the population from danger. Outside the wall in an ecologically broken world live mutated outcasts, so-called Omegas, who are kept as cheap labour. On the hunt for escaped Omegas, the young government official Sujin begins to doubt the official state ideology. With its own, original style, The Fin combines a B-Movie aesthetic with critical commentary on the political developments of the present.

Regie

SYEYOUNG PARK studied video art at the Korea National University. His debut film The Fifth Thoracic Vertebra (2022) was shown at festivals in Bucheon, Seoul, Sitges and Turin. The Fin ran in competition at the Cineasti del Presente competition in Locarno.
