Synopse

A Canadian director shoots a film at the castle Finsterstein in Austria. His 10-year-old daughter Caroline joins him during her holidays and passes the time partly on the set. It is actually quite boring there, since she is always in the way and nobody has time for her. Old Otto, whom Caroline has known all her life, is the only exception. Otto is needed just once in a while, since he is in charge of special effects: He creates smoke and fire. And fortunately there is also Jakob, a boy from the village who sneaks around the castle every day to observe the shooting secretly. All of a sudden Otto's effects do not work anymore and he is about to lose his job over this to a younger colleague. Jakob suspects the castle's ghosts behind all this, because they feel disturbed by the filming. The children start their nightly investigations...
